Digital Instrument Carrier
The Instrument Carrier is an ancillary for use with digital sensors that accurately measure the position of the attached instrument in x, y and z within TecQuipment’s FC300 Flumes range. It is used to precisely place an instrument tip in the x, y plane at any point along the length of the flow channel (the z plane).
The instrument carrier is supplied with three instruments:
• Hook depth gauge
• Point depth gauge
• Pitot tube
The carrier consists of a base that fits to the rails that run along the top of the flow channel, and an upright that holds the instrument in position against scales that pinpoint its position.
The carriage can be fixed at any point along the channel.
The position of the centre point of the carrier is marked by a slot in its edge. The distance of the instrument is measured relative to an experiment unit fitted in the flume. The instrument mounted in the carrier can slide from side to side across the section (the ‘x’ plane).
The instrument can also be moved up and down against the scale on the edge of the instrument carrier (the ‘y’ plane).
The FC300ic2 can therefore place an instrument accurately at any point along the length and cross-section of the channel. The reading is displayed locally and can be connected to the VDAS® unit supplied with the FC300 flume.
